Wild Light 2010

This is one of our new Christmas traditions. The Winter Wonder Lights at the Wildlife Experience. It is just a few miles up the road and is such a fun way to celebrate the Christmas season. This year we went on December 23. The eve of Christmas Eve and it was packed! But, in my final attempt to snap a picture of the kids with Santa we journeyed through these fun lights with the rest of Denver. The line to see Santa was hours long, just like in the Christmas Story, so I sent Dane with the kids to walk through the lights and drink hot chocolate while I waited in the line for Santa. After they finished seeing the lights I still had a long way to go so I sent them to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas to kill some more time. Dane thought I was crazy the whole time but I had already waited an hour-there was no turning back. I even offered to another lady to go and watch the movie with her kids and see the lights and I would hold her spot. (she finished both and decided to just go home--it was taking way too long!) The kids decided to wait to the finish line with me for the last twenty minutes or so and then it was finally our turn. The real Santa is at this place and we knew it was true when he looked into the boys eyes and said "you boys need to stop fighting!" Dane and I laughed (inside) and he talked with the kids . He told the boys he would give them one more chance to behave before he came and then he asked each of the kids what they wanted for Christmas. It was very endearing and so worth the wait! After we visited with him we enjoyed looking through the windows of his workshops and visiting with two of his reindeer. We came home and watched Fred Claus and slept under the Christmas tree ( a Pearce tradition always done on December 23.) It was such a special night!

This is the picture we caught of the Lunar Eclipse. It is very rare and only occurs only once in a blue moon (haha-seriously though). This was at midnight. Halee was the only child that didn't conk out before it happened! She and Azure put sleeping bags and blankets on the driveway and watched it for an hour or so. It was pretty cute. We admired their enthusiasm. It was pretty cold out that night!
